Kitchen Door Fitting Guide

How to Measure Your Kitchen Doors

To measure your replacement kitchen doors accurately, you will need a metal retractable measuring tape and a pen and paper.

To determine the sizes of doors you will need you should measure the reverse of your old doors in millimetres (mm) see diagram (A).

Our kitchen and bedroom doors are listed here on our website in the format height x width.

For example, a door listed on our website at 715 x 496 is 715 high x 496 wide.

Drawer fronts and doors need to be slightly smaller than the cabinet to which they will be fitted.

For example, if your cabinet measures 720mm high x 500mm wide, you will require a door measuring 715mm x 496mm. This is to allow a clearance for the doors so that they will open and close properly.

Measuring Hinge Holes

  1. So that it is easier to fit your new doors to your cabinets, it is better to have the hinge holes drilled in the same positions as your old doors. This is to ensure your new doors fit easily to your cabinets.

  2. To measure the positions of the hinge holes, measure from the top/bottom of your old doors to the centre of the hinge hole. See diagram (B).

  3. You will also need to tell us whether you require your hinge holes drilled on the left or right hand side of the door. You can determine this by noting which side of your existing doors the hinges are on when the door is closed. Example: If you look at your door with the handle on the Left, it is Right Hand Hinged. See diagram(c).

  4. The hinge holes on the doors for your sink units will need to be measured separately from your other base unit doors. This is because the top hole will usually need to be lower down.

Once you have measured all your doors and drawer fronts, listed them and double checked them, you should be ready to order your new doors. If you are unsure of anything you can call or email us for advice and we will be happy to help.
